What I Do
Graphic Design and Copywriting for Print
Ideas fashioned out of words and images for the purpose of communicating, persuading, entertaining, even provoking. Most of my work is about selling or promoting. Products. Services. Events. Donations. Let the message shine through. With attitude and style which sets it apart, somehow, from the expected, the bland, the lifeless. Refreshing and satisfying design breathes life into your message, whatever that may be. And the ideas, which resonate with your readers and audience, will do the work.
Web Design and Email Blasts
The printing press is not dead, but perhaps more people are reading less than in the last couple generations. That's because writing and designing for the Web is different. People have a short attention span, maybe ten seconds, deciding whether your site or your email newsletter has value. Capturing the reader's attention and the attention of the search engine is an art. Optimizing your printed message for the Web is what Jim Hance Graphic Communications does. Call Jim Hance at 619-203-0522 for an estimate.
Winning Presentations and Proposals
Jim Hance Graphic Communications produced proposals and presentations for a construction contractor which were awarded a total of $3.75 billion in federal government contracts in 2009. As the City of San Diego and other government entities pursue "managed competition," where outside companies compete with government departments for pieces of the City's work, more presentations and proposals will be required to win that work. Imagine how professional that contractor or government department will look with a polished and perfected proposal or presentation. Call Jim Hance at 619-203-0522 when you need a top-notch presentation or proposal.
"Jim has an amazing way to get to the heart of what you want to communicate. He can take the roughest of ideas, ask some really thoughtful questions and design something that says more than you ever imagined it would."
-- Robin Rierdan, Executive Director, Lakeside's River Park Conservancy

Mapmaking fulfills one of our deepest desires: understanding the world around us and our place in it. But maps need not show just continents and oceans. There are maps to heaven and hell. To happiness and despair. Maps to moods, matrimony and mythological places. Or to just another plot of land, graded and ready for development.
Does it communicate?
The goal of information graphics has always been to produce work which looks good and communicates a clear message. The pattern of civilized learning is the transformation of data into information, information into knowledge, and knowledge into wisdom. The first step, transforming data into understandable information, is where my work begins.
To communication better, I aim to simplify the complex, suggest the subtleties behind the obvious, enlarge the "micro" and reduce the "macro," make objective descriptions clear and understandable, and when appropriate make the message emotionally persuasive and memorable. A simple message can be easily understood by your audience.
Better understanding is what I design for. Harness the power of "wow." Jim Hance, 619-203-0522.
